Think before you rate these
These dumbbells are top shelf and by far better the the Bowflex® because the Bowflex® is toast this first time you set them down too hard, the "plastic" locking system on the Bowflex® can take ZERO impact. These are sturdy and durable, and work perfectly. The prior poster explained hos easy it is to do five pound increments, so these things by far are better than anything else on the market.
SECRETS to using these ... adjusted in 5 lbs incremets!
First let me say that I tried the Bowflex and PowerBlock dumbbells. I found that the Proforma Dumbbells are faster to adjust and come with a great stand.
Here are TWO secrets -
* The Secret to adjust in 5 pound increments.
* The secret to a second stand.
If you're smart, you can adjust them in 5 pound increments.
The FIRST way is to understand that some exercises (like overhead triceps press) require BOTH hands on ONE dumbbell. In these exercises, the dumbbell does not need to be balanced. In this case you adjust one side to the weight you want, and the other side + one more plate ... like this:
(The handle weighs 10 lbs and each plate 5lbs)
25lbs = 1 plates left side + 2 plates right side
35lbs = 2 plates left side + 3 plates right side
45lbs = 3 plates left side + 4 plates right side
Exercises that work with this method are:
Weight assisted dips,
Weight assisted pull-ups,
Pull-overs (also called lat pullovers)
Triceps press (also called french curls).
Also, as the weight goes up, this imbalance becomes very small. When you are benching 45lbs in each hand, the 5 lbs difference is very slight.
The SECOND method uses the same secret as above but, is used with exercises where you have a dumbbell in each hand. For many exercises, a slight imbalance is actually helpful. With dumbbell flys, rows and curls, having a perfectly balanced dumbbell actually makes the exercise harder.
OK, so some of you will still think you need a perfectly balanced dumbbell. The THIRD method allows you to do that - here's how. Allow the plates on the lighter side to be one position further out. That balances the dumbbell.
Here each "_" is a blank position, a "P" is where a plate is.
25lbs = _ P _ _-P P _ _
35lbs = P P _ _-P P P _
45lbs = P P P _-P P P P
* this will still result in a slight imbalance, but at 45 lbs, the differences is ounces.
Now the secret of the STAND. I did not like the stand for my use. You can remove the dumbbell rests and use them on the floor if you do not want the full stand.
All in all, I really like these dumbbells, they allow for fast adjustments. I got these a Dunham's Not Amazon, but there are less expensive here (at Amazon).

I've had these for a few months now and workout regularly with them (M-F). Like another reviewer, I overcome the 10 pound increment issue by just having an odd plate and adjusting my center of gravity on the bar. It's not that big of a deal. Each plate weights five pounds. I like these a lot and the stand is great to keep things clutter-free. One of my best exercise equipment purchases by far. Most other things are collecting dust. I have these adjustable dumbbells and my exercise bike and I am good to go.
Adjustable Dumbbells
I bought these dumbbells about one year ago. I too was disappointed with the 10 pound increment adjustment as noted by another reviewer, until I realized that I could add an odd plate on one side towards the inside of my grip allowing for five pound increment adjustments. (I also slide my grip towards the heavy side helping to equalize the weight imbalance. It is not great, but it works and these dumbbells, which include a nice stand are a lot cheaper than the bowflex dumbbells.
Love it except you can't change weights in increments of 5lbs.
It is a great value for you money. The stand was really worth it. My husband loves the weights. I ordered them for my husband for Christmas. They arrived a late but still before christmas. The only complaint he has is you can't change the weights in increments other than 10lbs. He wishes he could change them in 5lbs increments. But overall they are great.
