Should I buy the IRONMAN LeverLock Adjustable Dumbbells?

Great product

I wanted to speed up my workouts with some kind of interlocking plate system because my free weights relied on classical plates and twist couplers. I looked over all the options and went with these because:

1.) I wanted fine tuning - many of the others allow only adjustments in 5lb increments. With these you can adjust in increments as low as 1.25 lbs. My workouts require multiple sets of the same exercise with small adjustments of weight on each successive set. These are PERFECT.

2.) Construction - to me, with free weights, plastic is bad, especially when it's part of a (moving) mechanism. Boxflex seemed to have too much plastic all around. This set is all steel. (The stand is plastic/metal though.)

3.) Price - I purchased the set at my local Costco for $299, and the stand was included. There are others on the market for lots more and I just can't see paying over $600 for a set of Bowflex weights. I felt like this was a fair price.

If you get them, just make sure when you use them that the lever is COMPLETELY locked on each plate before you pick them up! I had a close call with a plate that fell off as I lifted the handle out of the stand. (That was my fault though, not the product.)

Overall - highly recommended.

Great set at an affordable price FROM COSTCO DIRECT!

After shopping for several brands of adjustable dumbells I decided on this set based on the following:

1. The quality appeared to be equal to other brands (Bowflex, Gold's Gym, Powerblocks, etc.)

2. The weights can be incremented by 2.5 lbs which is great for my wife as opposed to the Gold's Gym model which is, although more compact only in 10lb increments. Also, these go up to 55lbs as opposed to 50 like some of the others. Not a decision making point for me but it was a bit of a bonus in my rating them above the others.

3. The price was cheaper - Not from this online seller but direct from my local costco. I paid $[...] with the stand (I don't think it comes without.) This is compared to $[...] for the Bowflex without a stand (another $[...]),

After assembly, which took about 25 minutes with the included tools, I can tell you that the stand is put together very well and is more than sturdy enough to handle the weight of the dumbells without risk of tipping.

My only nit, and it is VERY small, is that you have to select each plate using the lever for that plate. This isn't dissimilar to some other brands and in some ways feels like a hybrid of old school dumbells that you swap the plates out but with a newer and faster mechanism for making the switch. I think that bowflex has the competition beat on their turning dial selector but I read too many complaints about the delicate nature of some of the plastic parts on those and these are ALL metal. The handle, the locking mechanisms, the plates. The only plastic is the holding trays and the feet of the stand.

[...].

If your local store has them you can get them for $[...] plus tax. A great deal.
